About muukago: muukago is a personal, non-commercial project built and run by one individual in their own time. It is provided free of charge and "as is", with no company, paid support, or service guarantees behind it. There are no payment features and muukago earns no money from you.

By creating an account or using muukago (the "App" / "Service"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 18 years old (or older, where your country sets a higher age of majority) to create an account or use the Service. The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If we learn that an under-18 account exists, we will terminate it.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
One person per account; do not impersonate others or create accounts for others without authority.
We use Firebase Authentication (email/password and Google Sign-In). By using Google Sign-In you also agree to Google's terms.

2. The Service, what muukago does

muukago lets you discover places, generate multi-day itineraries (with AI assistance), plan trips with groups (chat, votes, notes, shared expenses), and share travel stories and itineraries socially.

AI-generated itineraries are suggestions, not professional travel advice. They may contain inaccuracies (wrong hours, closures, prices, routes, safety conditions). Verify all details independently, especially opening hours, bookings, visas, local laws, and safety, before you rely on them. We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI output.
Place information, images, and descriptions are provided "as is" and may be incomplete or out of date.
The Service has no payment features; any "expenses" or "budget" tools are for your own planning and record-keeping only and process no real money.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of content you create (photos, captions, chat messages, notes, itineraries, "User Content").
Licence to us: You grant muukago a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (e.g. resize images), and display your User Content solely to operate and provide the Service (e.g. showing your story to your followers, your published itinerary to the community). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content others have already re-shared or copies in routine backups.
Your responsibilities: You represent that you have the rights to the content you post and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or violate any law. Do not upload photos of other people without their consent.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Post content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, obscene, sexually exploitative (especially involving minors), or that invades privacy.
Upload others' personal data, special-category data, or copyrighted/ trademarked material without rights.
Spam, scrape, reverse-engineer, overload, or attempt to breach the security of the Service (including probing Firestore rules, the API, or storage).
Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation.
Use the Service to harvest data about other users, or to send unsolicited communications.
Use automated means (bots) to create accounts or generate activity.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion.

5. Social & group features

Public content: Your profile (name, username, bio, photo), published itineraries, and your "places posted" map may be visible to other users. Do not post anything public you wish to keep private.
Stories are visible only to your approved followers (and to you) and auto-delete after 24 hours, but followers may screenshot or save them before then, post accordingly.
Group chat is visible to all members of that group. Removed messages beyond the most recent 100 per group are automatically pruned.
You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users. muukago is not responsible for the conduct of any user.

6. Content moderation & reporting

We may (but are not obliged to) monitor content. To report abuse or content that violates these Terms, contact [abuse@yourdomain.com]. We aim to review reports promptly and may remove content or take action against accounts.

ACTION: Ensure a working report/flag mechanism and takedown process. The EU Digital Services Act (DSA) may impose notice-and-action, transparency, and point-of-contact obligations depending on your user numbers and reach. Assess.

7. Intellectual property

The App, its design, code, branding, and curated place catalogue (excluding User Content and third-party materials) are owned by muukago or its licensors and protected by IP laws.
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes per these Terms.
Some place images and descriptions are sourced from Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons and are made available under their respective open licences (often CC BY-SA); those licences and their attribution requirements apply to that content. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). Such third-party content is not owned by muukago.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties: Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting), our API host [Render, confirm], Cloudflare R2 (photo storage), an AI provider ([Groq, confirm]), Google Sign-In, and OpenStreetMap map tiles. Your use may be subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their services. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

AI processing of your inputs: When you generate an itinerary, the trip preferences and free-text you provide are sent to our third-party AI provider to produce the result. Do not enter sensitive personal information (about yourself or others) into these prompts, as it will be processed by that provider.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, MERCHANTABILITY, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI output, place data, hours, or recommendations are accurate or current.
Travel involves risk. You are responsible for your own safety, travel documents, insurance, and compliance with local laws.

(Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions; some protections may not apply to you, and mandatory consumer rights are unaffected.)

10. Limitation of liability

muukago is a free, non-commercial service run by one individual. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR (AND ANY SUPPLIERS THE SERVICE RELIES ON) WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, THE OPERATOR'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED [$50 / £50 or the equivalent, a nominal cap for a free service].

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (e.g. death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or mandatory statutory consumer rights, e.g. under EU/UK consumer law or the Indian Consumer Protection Act).

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Suspension & termination

You may delete your account at any time via the Profile tab → "Delete account" button, which permanently erases your account and associated personal data, or by contacting us.
We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, legal reasons, or to protect the Service or other users.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by nature survive (IP, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law) continue.

13. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify or discontinue features, and may update these Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above and notify you of material changes in-app (and by email if we have your address); continued use after the effective date means you accept them.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION, e.g. England & Wales / your entity's home jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Disputes will be resolved in the courts of [LOCATION], unless mandatory law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally (consumer-protection carve-out for EEA/UK/India consumers).

15. Miscellaneous

Entire agreement: these Terms + the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and muukago.

No waiver: our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver.
Assignment: you may not assign these Terms. The operator may transfer them if muukago is later taken over by another person or by a company (for example, if the project is incorporated), on notice to you.
